Course Information:
The purpose of Advanced Placement Statistics is to introduce students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students are exposed to four broad conceptual themes:

Exploring Data: Observing patterns and departures from patterns -
Planning a Study: Deciding what and how to measure -
Anticipating Patterns: Producing models using probability and simulation -
Statistical Inference: Estimating parameters and testing hypotheses -
Course Requirements:
Students taking APStatistics at LSHS must have successfully completed Algebra 2 and must have a teacher's recommendation or approval. AP Statistics may be taken concurrently with PreCalculus or AP Calculus.
Calculator: Students are required to have a graphing calculator with statistical capabilities. LSHS recommends a TI-83+ or TI-84+.
