Stash Studios would like to welcome guest blogger, Chris Brown of Urban Prairie to help us bring Warrenton to the world....
When Cheryl asked me to guest blog here at Stash Studios I was honored. When she then mentioned that I could write about the upcoming Warrenton antique show, I was thrilled.
Twice a year, in my favorite seasons Spring and Fall, I travel to the small town of Warrenton, Texas. It is there that I hunt oddities, cultural relics and add to my growing collection of cracked doll heads. It is there that I revisit old friendships and make new ones. But most of all it is there that I “refuel” my creative soul.

What is it that draws me to Warrenton more so than the larger shows in Round Top and out at Marburger Farms? I guess for one it’s the slower, laid back attitude of the people. I also just simply find great stuff out in it’s fields. Don’t get me wrong - dealers and displays are quite cool under the big tents and out buildings at Marburger Farms - Uncommon Objects and Urban Country Antiques to mention a few. But still I feel most at home under the trees of Warrenton.

Each time I make the pilgrimage to Warrenton, I try and bring back the vibe of every trip and inspire my Urban Prairie website and Urban Prairie REFUELED blog viewers with photos and text of the show. For the past two years I have produced a “Junk Hunt” feature with D’Ette Cole of CLUTTER fame. We would walk the fields, discover cool and odd finds and talk about our current and up coming projects. It was great fun.
This year I wanted to bring something different to Urban Prairie fans. For three days I will shoot footage of MY experience of the show. The trip, the town, the people, found objects and the atmosphere. This will become “Refueled” - a documentary - shot, art directed, edited and packaged in true Urban Prairie style and fashion.

So, if you make the trip, look for me in the fields. I could be behind a video camera, handing out “Alt-County Style+Design” Urban Prairie t-shirts, carrying a wire basket full of doll heads or simply sitting under an oak tree eating BBQ. Whatever it may be you can be sure that I will leave refueled.
