Qwalsius Studios was founded in 1999 by artist Shaun Peterson originally under the name Salish Print when the artist was primarily a printmaker. Since that time Shaun has branched out into many different artistic expressions including wood, metal and glass sculpture, digital media, and writing. All these creative endeavors have sprung from one goal. To create and educate the public about Coast Salish art and in the process instill pride in the Native communities that their culture both past and present is a rich and beautiful gift that should be recognized and celebrated.

Shaun has created public installations for cities in the Pacific Northwest, participated in international traveling exhibitions, co-curated a major exhibition with Bill Holm, Robin K. Wright and Susan Point, and consults with local Washington tribes, educational organizations and museums on the creative process and cultural relevance. Today Shaun is an active member of the Bill Holm Center for the Study of Northwest Coast Art and participates in group exhibitions in the region when time permits between installations, private commissions and special projects. At the heart each of these activities the common goal is to maintain and uphold a high standard of achievement that existed along these waters by the Coast Salish people long ago.

Qwalsius Studios primarily serves the Western Washington area to provide artwork, consultation, and graphics design. If you would like to find out more information have a look around and be sure to email news@qwalsiusstudios.com if you have any questions. Thanks for visiting.
