Strangely the book that I scanned this from has given little spotlight to this collection forcing them into corners (as displayed below) while other collections such as The Four Seasons or The Four Times of Day have been given half a page per girl. This means that The Four Arts are a lot smaller than any of the others, and to compensate for this I have left them as close to the original 600 dpi scan as possible.
Also, because of the sheer size of the book, and the frailty of my scanner, you can see a slight blur down the left-hand side of Poetry and Painting. This is where the page started to move upwards and away from the scanner. There was also a few problems cleaning up the smudges in the print, especially over poor Painting’s face as you will hopefully still see in the thumbnail below. Hopefully you’ll find all this to be minimal & does not interfere with the beauty of the art.
On a more personal note, this is not my favourite set of Mucha’s art. Perhaps it is because I feel that it is one of the more renowned and the over-exposure of it has dulled my own interest in these four ladies. My own favourites will follow in time.
