A celebration of the elegant order of English orthography Why a "Tool Box"?
A tool box is a full set of tools:
readily available to deal with any need at any time;
is arranged, sorted and stored in a way that makes them easily accessible.
Should the need arise, any good tool box contains exactly what is needed - and we will know exactly where to find it.
The Real Spelling Tool Box is a similar collection of tools for resourcing orthographic teaching and learning topics whenever and wherever they arise.
The structure of the Tool Box
The Real Spelling Tool Box is, in itself, not a sequential scheme. Its seven "Tool Kits" are, though, arranged in order of increasing intensity and depth of content.
The Seven Tool Kits
Morphological, etymological and phonological themes are included in the Tool Kits from the most basic to the most intensive.
The same general teaching theme may well appear more than once among the Tool Kits reflecting the differing intensity and demands of the materials.
The Eighty-Four Teaching Themes
Each of the seven Tool Kits contains twelve separate Teaching Themes, making 84 Themes in all.
You can download an overview of all the Tool Kits with their constituent Themes by clicking on this link.

Structured on rigorously established linguistic fact.
Entirely free of the politically distorted edubabble ‘research’ industry and its bogus ‘developmental’ models and ‘continua’.
The Spelling Tool Box is being reworked to form an interactive resource on disk with integrated mutlimedia content.
As each Tool Kit disk is completed, it will replace the previous bound paper version of the Kit.
Other Real Spelling resources are now integrated into the unified package
