The Southern Oregon Guild
Membership Information
It is all about access..... The Guild was formed to help artists and artisans from throughout the southern Oregon region become more commercially successful. Whether you are currently a working professional, or wish to become one, you will find ways to help you reach your goals. If you are a hobbyist and simply want to learn how to better represent your work to friends and families you will also find much of interest and value.
If reaching customers and prospects in distant markets is your need, you can access the Guild's specialized equipment to provide professional quality representation of your work to any customer, anywhere in the world, in any medium, at any time 24 x 7, 365 days a year. Will that help you become more commercially successful? It sure won't hurt! Your Guild membership provides you with:
....access to professional quality lighting which you can use with either your camera or one of the Guild cameras. You can choose from a three strobe light studio set up with stands, light boxes, umbrellas and wireless remote strobe triggers, or two hot lights with one of three different types of bulbs, or one of three different types of light tents or even a small item studio-in-a-bag that folds up about the size of a brief case.
....access to backdrops and enclosures suitable for your work whether it is large furniture items, small jewelry items, flat art, sculpture, pottery, textile art, or whatever.
....access to professional quality cameras and lenses either digital or film based.
....access to high speed internet it on either Mac or Windows computers.
....access to powerful Mac or Windows computers with a full suite of software for creative professionals. Everything from image editing and management to page layout to web authoring to video editing to DVD production to CD burning to music editing to presentation creation, to scanning, to whatever. And, now you even have access to colorimeter hardware and software to help you calibrate your monitor to your own or any of the Guild's printers.
....access to four different kinds of specialized printers for just the cost of the paper and ink. You can print on a color laser printer, an ink jet printer, a dye sublimation printer for exceptional 8 x 10 photo prints that rival even the best wet chemistry processes, or a 24" wide printer for quality very large size ink jet prints.
If access to direct selling venues is your need, your Guild membership also provides you:
....access to post your work on the Guild web site, southernoregonguild.org.
....access to the Guild coop gallery to directly offer your work for sale and the ability to help develop and promote the gallery to become whatever you want it to be to best benefit you.
....access to show ratings guides to help you select and qualify for indoor and outdoor selling events up and down the west coast and across the sun belt.
....access to all of the resources of the IV Chamber of Commerce so you can know when and where local and regional shows take place and which ones might be of benefit to you.
.....access to professional quality inclement weather show huts, sun screens and display cases to help make your selling experience more fruitful.
If specialized training is what you need, your Guild membership provides you with access to Guild sponsored training events throughout the year. And, starting this year your membership provides you access to specialized news letters tailored to specific training needs such as SOGPhoto, a monthly news letter devoted to helping you learn to take and manage better quality photos of your work.
If interaction with other artists and artisans is your need, your Guild membership provides you with access to the monthly Guild meetings that are held alternately in Grants Pass and in the Illinois River Valley area at a member's home. These meetings include a social time with member provided munchies, wine and soft drinks, and are also the times when the Guild Board meets so you can interact directly in the planning and decision processes.
If reaching out to help others is your need, your Guild membership provides you with access to educational outreach programs for both youth and adult learning experiences.
If having someone else do your photos, web sites, promo materials or whatever is your need, your Guild membership provides you with access to skilled service providers who can, for a fee, help you produce nearly anything you need to help you become more commercially successful.
So, join with your fellow artists and artisans in the region who are helping themselves become more commercially successful. Take your $40 to the Guild Service Center in the Rogue Community College building in Kerby, or drop it off with any of the Board members, or send it to Southern Oregon Guild, PO Box 3195, Kerby, OR 97531.
Whether you are an aspiring artist or craftsperson, or already a seasoned professional, the Southern Oregon Guild offers a wealth of benefits to help you towards even greater commercial success.
Membership is only $40 per year which includes your ability to show in the Guild Gallery (jury required), to post your work on the Guild Website (jury required), or to host your own web presence on through the Guild web hosting service.
Fill out the membership form and take it along with your $40 annual dues to the Guild Service Center in the Rogue Community College building in historic Kerby, OR, or drop it off with any of the Board members, or send it to Southern Oregon Guild, PO Box 3195, Kerby, OR 97531.
