Sculptors Alistair Green and Garry Curry have begun a new sculpture, a 300lb piece of Brazilian Steatite will soon be transformed into two Western Hoary Marmots, which Whistler became named after. London Mountain soon became locally known as “Whistler” because of the shrill whistle made by the Western Hoary Marmots who live among the rocks. On August 27, 1965 London Mountain’s name was officially changed to Whistler Mountain.

The sculpture will be donated to the Vancouver Island Society of Disabled Artists. Our goal is to promote artists with disabilities.
