Jane & Mark had a superb day at Glen Tanar - one of the North-East’s best kept secrets when it come to wedding venues.

The weather was kind - timed to perfection - as it just started to rain as the couple got into their car after the photos! All the photos here were taken on the estate - and they were never more than 20 yards from their car.

They had some of the best speeches I’ve heard in a long time - Jane’s dad, a man well used to addressing an audience - though the audience were a little more used to wearing suits than his normal crowd.....

So, you’ve been married for 10 years.

How do you celebrate?

This couple came over from Idaho, USA to Scotland - and traced a castle with connections to their family name. After a slight mix up - where they tried to get married at an open prison (Well Castle Huntly doesn’t sound like a prison, does it??)

These photos are at Broughty Ferry Castle in May (yes - it was that sunny for a few days....)

Linz used to be a photographer on a cruise-ship (and they call that a job!!). Her best pal, Kirstie is also a photographer - but as the chief bridesmaid she couldn’t take the photos - so when you have two photographers in the wedding party, there’s more than a little pressure.

The Scottish Wedding Directory have a magazine - Real Life Weddings - and it’s our 6th to be featured in it.

Their day was just fantastic - with a visit down to the “Brig of Balgownie for a little break - and some great photos.... then onto Elphinstone Halls for the reception.

Clare & Ross had their wedding at the very fine Cornhill House Hotel - it’s not long had a major extension which gives a crisp and clean look to the ballroom.

The wet weather didn’t dampen the day - and everyone rocked on to a superb Beatles tribute band.

I’m at the Glenesk Hotel lots. It a really popular venue - and Gordon who owns it has been a finalist in the VOWS awards 3 times - so he’s good!
After a short while together (how many years was it??) Joanne & Graeme had plenty time to choose....
I heard it say there’s be blue snow when they married - and yes - it did snow that morning, but was it blue.....?
However - no sign of the snow in the afternoon - so Joanne’s dad joined them on the 18th of his favorite course. And whilst every bride is the most stunning - Graeme’s mum came a close second with her hat!

Kathleen & Christopher Chambers

A few months ago I photographed Kelly (& Christopher) - a great day if a little wet!

Now it’s her sister Kathleen’s turn. She also married a Christopher (must be a family thing!!) at Norwood Hall. A great day - the weather was kind - considering the time of year - and yes our first wedding of 2008

And everyone bopped to The Big Show!

When it comes to weddings, Roz knows a little more than the average bride.... its her job. As the editor of the Scottish Wedding Directory she works with all aspects of weddings - so when I was asked to be her photographer it was a huge honour.

The pressure was on! The venue, Pollockshields Burgh Hall is really amazing - and with great gardens - and a very pretty railway station 2 minutes walk away (I’m sure Roz was wondering about my sanity when I suggested it!). However, late in the day, and a dark driech Glasgow day between Christmas & New Year dictated a very quick trip through the gardens before it got dark...

Gregor & Faye married at the local church - then went onto Maryculter House. The really weird thing is that in all my time, this is the first time I’ve ever photographed a bride on the hill overlooking my home town!

During the service I watched Faye’s mum - I don’t think I have ever seen anyone look more proud!!

And when it comes to smiles, Faye just kept on... the whole day.

And the bride wore - not white!

I first met Debbie whilst she worked at Fasque - and I was quite touched when she booked me to photograph her wedding - as she got to see many of the countries leading photographers...

So, when she said her wedding wasn’t going to be at Fasque I knew the venue had to be very special. When she said it was to be at her home I was disappointed - but when I met her there I was delighted - I’d been there many years before but never got to work in the grounds due to the weather.

On the day everything was perfect - full of finely honed details - married on the lawn by a Humanist celebrant - with a marque with a twinkling ceiling. The Three Waiters performed an act thoughout the meal....

The first dance - by The Body Rockers - “I like the way you move”..... and capped by a fantastic firework display.

I’m no April Fool!

Jim & Kirsten had one of the most memorable weddings I’ve ever photographed. The whole event was at Bunchrew House Hotel, Inverness - where the grounds are superlative - only bettered by the food!

The whole day was full of surprises - Kirsten went up the isle to the theme music of “The Muppet Show” - with more muppets on show in the dining room - as each table was named after each - with the top table being Fozzy Bear (waca, waca, waca!). The table plan featured photos of all the guests as kids - and the whole night was topped off by Elvis!
