ENCORE:
I LOVE THIS TOWN
WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE

I saw Bon Jovi at home in Vancouver, BC back in December ’07 and next to Springsteen's 1984 marathon, it was almost as good, playing at just shy of three hours. The guys recorded three of their biggest albums in Vancouver so their show in my hometown was very special because of all the back-stories and memories they shared of those earlier days.

So when I made plans to visit friends in Kansas City, MO, I was excited to pick a time that coincided with Bon Jovi dates in KC.  By sheer luck, a couple of weeks ago I had visited Ticketmaster at just the right time when they were releasing some choice floor seats - row 9 on the floor ain’t too shabby I say!  So off we (Mel and I) went to first of two KC shows - April 17th.  Lawdy lawdy, I had forgotten just how much fun it is to have floor seats.  The KC crowd was into it from the first notes of “Lost Highway” to the last song of the encore “Wanted Dead or Alive”.  The band was in great spirits, great energy and my  my my, can Jon Bon Jovi “shake his money maker”. The KC show had a different set altogether from when I  saw them back in December, but it still worked, with incredible LCD panels that displayed images periodically - including some pretty hot looking female silouettes at one point. And there were at least 8-10 different songs in the set list - which was great since I had hoped to hear many of these songs at the Vancouver show.

Some of the loudest cheers were saved for their song “I Love This Town”, during which a video montage of various MO and Kansas sites were shown - the loudest roar, and the one that nearly deafened Mel and I, was when the KU Jayhawks logo was shown - egads, the girl behind us shrieked louder than a cat with its tail caught in a rocking chair! (Sorry Jayhawks fans, I’m a Missouri Tigers fan myself.) ;-)

My advice, if you’re in Kansas City, run don't walk to see Bon Jovi on the 22nd...I might even try to. ;-)

Thanks Kansas City and Bon Jovi for a great time!
