Medical Grade PMMA

Also known as “Plastic Surgery without cuts”, Bioplasty  is a technique that brings together PMMA grafting with microcanula technology and metered implantation devices, for minimally invasive and virtually pain free procedures to medically reconstruct and cosmetically enhance soft tissues including the face, buttocks and extremities.

Bioplasty represents a singular new concept of Cosmetic and Reconstructive Medicine. Bioplasty is successfully used for both reconstructive and cosmetic purposes: facial reconstruction & rejuvenation, gluteal reconstruction and enhancement, muscle enhancement (pectorals, calves, abdominal muscles, biceps, etc. can be safely augmented). Many other body structures like forehead, cheeks, temples, nose, lips, jaw line and jaw angle, chin, hands, penis girth, labia, can be enhanced or modified.

The use of PMMA for medical purposes dates back to 1936. Medical-grade PMMA has proven to have an excellent degree of compatibility with human tissues, and has been used for a large number of medical indications like:

  1. -Soft Tissue Fillers

  2. -Bone Cement

  3. -Dentures

  4. -Pacemakers

  5. -Intra-Ocular Lenses

  6. -Contact Lenses

PMMA in Medicine

An ideal PMMA filler should be comprised by larger than 20µ spheres or beads. The optimum size for the particles is between 40 and 60µ.

It has been reported that particles smaller than 20µ are phagocited and removed from the area, and those larger than 100µ can create a chronic inflammatory response known as foreign body granuloma.
