Oh to be a bear and water hole poetry
Friday, January 12th, 2007, twenty above zero and windy, cloudy skies and a strip of darkness to the east foretelling of more snow to come. We have about 5 miles visibility at the moment and we're recovering from about 10 inches of snow over the last few days and five straight days, prior to that, of forty below zero. The fact that within 48 hours, we can go from forty below zero to twenty above is a little unsettling but not uncommon for the Interior. At twenty above, you'll find us hoping and praying that forecasts for freezing rain and winter El Nino winds won't materialize. So far, so good!

The Yukon River Lodge not so secret Gluten Free Sourdough Recipe
Saturday, January 6th, 2007. Minus 34 at the cabin today (probably colder down on the river but we haven't broken out of our warm cabin to test that theory yet). Looks like there is ice fog upriver near Horner Hot Springs. Good day to bring sleddogs inside to warm up near the woodstove, cut toe nails and give dogs shots.
