classic film

*WARNING*  THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF STOMACH.  PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.  NOT RECOMMENDED FOR MOTHERS.

For those who are still with us, this installment of Classic Film is golden.  This is one of the greatest remaining pieces of Davis lore on film.  Regretfully we don’t have film of what happened after the concussion, when Chris scared his parents by asking the same three questions over and over: “Where am I?”  “What day is today?”  “Was I playing soccer?” [wait 2 minutes and repeat]

There’s not much to it.  Opposing player goes for the ball, kicks Chris’ legs instead, and gravity does the rest.  It’s all kind of fuzzy to me, but I think the next thing I remembered (not that I remembered the game) was waking up fully dressed at the doctor’s office.

And yes, never one to break the rules, that is my dad saying, “Hey Ref, can I come onto the field?” as I lay motionless on the ground.  He did come out, and all worked out fine (or perhaps that is open for discussion!).

Chris’ Concussion
