Many people think of parent groups as being all about bakes sales. Or they think of power-tripping moms ruling their domain, like Desperate Housewives and Harper Valley PTA. Well that makes good TV, but that’s not us.
Manor Elementary PTA is about men and women working together toward a common goal. That goal is creating a better school and a better educational experience for our children. We strive to create an atmosphere where teachers and administrators can do their best work--and so can our children.
In the past years, we have:
•Successfully held numerous programs for our community like: PTA meetings, teacher appreciation week, Book Fair, BBQs, Campus Camp Out, parent education, treasurer assistance with the WinterFaire, lice check, campus clean up days, Talent Show, launched the first Get Moving! event, and updated classroom emergency kits
•Provided our school with more technology equipment
•Improved the K/1 playground area with trees, etc.
•Safe Routes to School: Built a new bike path for the school, Safe Routes Assembly and a Bike Safety Rodeo
•Helped to promote the word and motivate parents to tell our legislators that we don’t want budget cuts to education
•Donated lost & found items and will begin an emergency stockpile of extra clothing at school
•Planned and ran several school assemblies including: Banana Slug String Band, Wild Care Associates, Red Panda Acrobats, Robert San Souci, Box Tale Theater, Ane Carla Rovetta and Brass Ensemble/Marin Symphony.
Manor wouldn’t be what it is today without these programs.
It’s important, fulfilling and fun work.
Why Join The PTA? Membership gives you voting rights on what the PTA does on behalf of our students and school. The #1 reason to join is to benefit your child. But there’s more to it:
•Be a Role Model. Demonstrate to your child how important education is to you. Research has shown parent involvement equals higher student achievement.
•Connect. With other parents, the principal, teachers and faculty. Receive email updates.
•Effect Change and Ensure the Success of our School and Community. The PTA is a great forum for exchanging ideas and moving programs forward—locally and nationally!
•Grow. Gain valuable experiences and use your skills for a good cause.
