February 2007  Launch from bay with small parking area OS 40 GR:739792

The inner part of the loch is sheltered from westerlies and can be glass calm when it’s rough in more open water.  There’s plenty in the loch to explore, including an Iron Age fort on Eilean nan Gobhar (Goat Island) and some superb beaches with excellent camping.

Tidal Information

E stream +0530 / W -0050 HW Ullapool

There are quite heavy over-falls around the islands when the ebb tide runs against a strong westerly wind, especially between Eilean a’ Chaolais and Ribha Chaolais.
