Shihan Alan Simms is a speaker, a published writer, and communications producer by professional background. He is currently the Community Relations Director for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In that capacity he speaks to community groups and effects community based collaborations for New Jersey’s Health Sciences University. However, Alan is also known as SENSEI –the Japanese word for “teacher” - as he’s affectionately called by his karate students. But Sensei Alan’s proper title is a “Shihan” - a martial arts master teacher. Shihan Alan Simms has been inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame; the International Martial Arts Hall of Fame; the World Christian Martial Arts Hall of Fame, and the Save the Children Black Belt Hall of Fame. Shihan Alan has trained literally thousands of young people, adults, and law enforcement professionals over the past 35 years.
