Auckland Two Colleges
Thursday, 13 April 2006

Arrived in Auckland a bit over whelmed with what we saw in Discovery and Unlimited. Today we went to two very schools. One a relatively conservative all catholic girls college, Carmel College, started 50 years ago and the other a new government school Alfriston College opened only three years ago in a new subdivision of Auckland. You can view the presentation we saw by going to the site and About Us.

Both schools, catholic and government receive the same level of government funding and so both have similar fee structures for students to attend approximately $500.

Carmel College set on the shores of Lake Pupuke on Auckland’s North Shore, is an Integrated Catholic Secondary School for girls from Year 7 to 13. A strong emphasis on faith and academic excellence to empowering the student to realise her potential in the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional and cultural aspects of their life. High emphasis on the NCEA’s, (SACE).
