We visited the Central Marketing this morning, before setting off to Santa Croce church, and to see sculpture at the Bargello museum. My first thoughts upon entering the market were jumbled - there was just too much to take in. Then, as I began to absorb and understand my surroundings, I came to realize there wasn’t too much going on here. Quite the opposite - Italians do it fresh every day. They have time to shop for the evenings meal, buying the freshest ingredients possible. Meat cut fresh on the spot, not placed in styrofoam and wrapped in plastic, sitting for a week on a shelf. I was jealous of the fresh vegetables... in colors I imagine they SHOULD be. Fruit that looks so good, you could smell the sweet taste in the air. After moving on, the sweet taste would soon by on my tongue... Orange Chocolate Gelato, perhaps one of the greatest gifts God ever bestowed upon this wonder city. Oh yeah, some cool sculpture was mixed in there too. Enjoy the photos...
