High Sierra Trout

Cuttbow Craziness

So today was probably one of the best fishing days of my life.  I fished for less than 2 hours, and in that time I landed 9 fat trout and one whitefish (pictured above).  I fished with an Indi-Caddis and three nymphs: golden stone on top, green Hotwire Prince in the middle, and a Skwala stone dropper. Fish took all three, with the golden stone the most popular.  I fished at two parks here in Reno, the day was windy and a little cold with the water a chilly 45º.  The first spot I hit yielded no trout but the second spot was loaded with fish.  A fish slammed the stonefly on the second drift and proceeded to jump all the way out of the water four times and make several short runs.  I landed the fish, but when I went to take a photo the fish started thrashing around and I dropped the camera in the water, and the fish got away.  The fish was a beautiful 20” cuttbow with nice coloration, the first of many.  On the very next cast I caught another nice fish, and it was fish after fish after that.  Since my camera got wet I didn’t want it to short out, so I took all of the photos with my phone and some of them didn’t turn out very well.  The smallest fish I landed measured 16”, the rest were 18-20”.  Anyway, here are the fish:
