Come Join Us!
It is easy to join the PGR. Please come join us in showing respect for those that gave of themselves for us ...
There are two things you need to complete for all the data to be gathered:
Go to the National Web Site HERE and register. This will allow you access to the membership area of the national site and forums, and become a member of the PGR.
Then please let us, Patriot Guard Riders of New York (PGRNY), know so that we can add you to the local region contact list, so you are informed of the Missions as they come up. Just click HERE to fill out the State Membership form.
Letter to the NY PGR Membership,
To facilitate good communication with our members of the PGRNY we are attaching this "General PGRNY Info Statement" (see below) The leadership of PGRNY (Board and Captains) is committed to these procedures and will uphold this as our method of operation. Please pass this information on to any potential member or those that might not have ready access to email.
If you have any issues with the leadership of the NYPGR please go through proper channels (RC to SRC to BOD) in a professional manner.
General PGRNY Info Statement:
A. We wait until the DOD releases confirmed information on each fallen soldier. We do NOT move forward without this confirmation.
B. We list this soldier's sacrifice as a Pending Mission on the PGR National web site. The appropriate Ride Captains are contacted. SC or ASC or their authorized RC contacts the appropriate Casualty Assistance Office (CAO) and offers the presence of the PGR.
C. The Ride Captains send out a Pending mission alert to notify members that this could become a Confirmed mission and to check the PGR Forums for updates.
D. We wait for a reply from the CAO regarding whether or not the PGR has been requested or invited. We do NOT pursue the family of a fallen soldier or attend, as a organization unless invited.
E. Once we have received an invitation, the mission is moved from Pending to the Confirmed folder and the SC and RC's begin working out details. We will add information with the extent we are involved, along with dates, locations and staging as soon as possible.
F. We are not in control of the timing of notification, and sometimes we have extremely short notice mission. In spite of the short notice we try to get the information out as quickly as possible, knowing that as a volunteer organization not everyone will always be available.
G. Our mission is to show respect for the families and friends of our fallen heroes. We also need to show respect for each other in the process, knowing we are here to serve not to be served. Whatever we each can do to assist the PGR will benefit the overall mission of this organization.
In summary: Your regional Ride Captains, on up to the State Captain are very busy doing our best to move forward with each mission as efficiently as possible to ensure that you are notified and informed to be there in support of each family. Although we send out email notifications as a courtesy, each member is responsible to check the mission folders. All of us are in this together to do our best to ensure each Hero's service is as honorable and respectful as possible.
Currently we are seeking members who have the time to help with these duties. If you think you might be able to help, please contact your Regional RC or your SC.
With your help we will continue to build up each region to ensure each request we receive is honored with the best possible response we can offer.
NY has also recently established our Help On The Homefront Department (HOTH) to assist our returning wounded and their families. We need volunteers to help these families with appointments and paperwork as well as to help them meet their larger needs. In order to meet a larger need a family may have, we need folks and ideas for fundraising. Anyone who may be able to help in these capacities, please contact their RC, SC or HOTH coordinator.
We ask that each member not rely on email alone and check the National and State Web sites for info and calendar. We have all experienced problems sending hundreds of emails out. You may not receive an email that was sent out. If you are not receiving email from your regional RC please contact him. All contact info is available at the “Captains” page.
We have had a few isolated instances where members became very critical or abusive to other members or RCs. This abuse will NOT be tolerated and will result in their removal from membership. We ask you to report any such abuse immediately so we can take appropriate action quickly. Any member removed from membership will not be invited or welcomed to a mission. We welcome constructive criticism or suggestions, and in the spirit of "Respect” insist that the proper methods for this be followed in order to maintain the respect for each other
Each of us knows that our presence provides a strength and security to each grieving family. We gather and go in Respect and Honor for those who gave their lives for us. You, the faithful membership, continue to go beyond to bless those who need us. Thank you from so many...
