Grandma’s 88th Birthday!

Snapfinger Too
For as long as I can remember, my family has gathered periodically at Snapfinger Too. It is the home of my aunt and uncle, but it is a significant part of the fabric of my family’s life. It is here that all the pretenses, facades, and worries of life fade away in the hickory smoke of the barbecue pit and are washed clean by the condensation on a refreshing beverage. Snapfinger Too remains in my memory as a verdant, soulful place, heavy with good times. Walking along the paths and dams of the pond is a game in finding the past. The remnants of punks and squibs from July 4ths of my youth, the errant un-broken clay pigeon from afternoon skeet matches long since decided, are all here to bare witness to a group of people who love one another and cherish time to relax properly.
The Family-That dear octopus from whose tentacles  we never quite escape, nor, in our inmost hearts, ever quite wish to.
