This Listening Lounge is the repository of both journalistic and more freeform pieces that I’ve made about shortwave and other types of long distance radio listening over the past several years. In its real world guise, The Listening Lounge is also a Friday night forum I host in tandem with Myke Weiskopf at the annual Shortwave Listener’s Winterfest in Kulpsville, Pennsylvania. We unearth nuggets from our respective archives, and past events have included readings of shortwave inflected literature from the likes of Ernest Hemingway, Stanley Elkin and Michael Chabon, an interval signal quiz, and contemporary music with shortwave sources or references.
