BayWood Artists’ Objectives
The BayWood Artists are a small group of professional plein air artists dedicated to helping preserve the environment for future generations and the lands we love- the remaining open space of Marin County and the greater Bay Area. The artists are from Marin County, East Bay and beyond.
They include Chris Adessa, Christin Coy, Ben Farnham, Jon Francis, Sherrill Miller, Zenaida Mott, Lissa Nicolaus, and Thomas Soltesz. The Guest Artists this year are Davis Perkins, Paul Kratter, and Victoria Mimiaga. The Emeritus Members are Dana Hooper, Douglas Morgan, Randall Sexton, Christopher Newhard, and Patricia Wallis.

Through exhibits and the sale of paintings, the artists hope to focus public attention on, and raise awareness and funds for, environmentally sensitive projects as well as those lands that inspire their art and the organizations committed to their preservation. They donate 50% of the proceeds from the exhibits to those organizations.

Past BayWood Artist exhibits have helped benefit the Marin Open Space District, Hawthorn Canyon; the Marin Agricultural Land Trust, (M.A.L.T.); the restoration of Bolinas Lagoon, now listed as an International Heritage Site. The Greenbelt Alliance; Fish Friendly Farming, (an organization which assists vineyard growers, ranchers and farmers to use the land in the most environmentally sensitive way); the restoration of Oakwood Valley near Mill Valley for the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy; the Marin Open Space District for helping protect ridge land above Mill Valley; wetland restoration for the Marin Bayland Advocates; the Bay Area Ridge Trail in its efforts to complete the 400 mile greenbelt around the Bay Area; and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy’s Redwood Creek Restoration Project.
