Lunar Eclipse
August 28, 2007
Photographed from Avonport, Nova Scotia by Sherman Williams

My August 28, lunar eclipse observing session began about 05:45 ADT (08:45 UT). A good amount of thin cloud and haze was present above the western horizon which made it difficult to observe the Full Moon’s first contact with the umbra. Fortunately the sky seemed clearer in the 5° still separating the Moon and the horizon, so I patiently waited for a photo moment.  The results are shared here.  Atmospheric extinction and the rising western horizon hastened totality.
