Daily life and the natural history at Horton Bluff is the inspiration for creating this web site. Situated in southwestern Nova Scotia, the location has dark skies for star gazing and overlooks Minas Basin, a body of water known for accommodating the highest recorded tides on Earth. The Basin gives a ringside view of Fundy waters resonating to the beat of an astronomical tune orchestrated by Moon, Earth and Sun.

A variety of interests and links
are shared, but the main focus is TIDES,
 and
ASTRONOMICAL
events happening in the sky.

The site is dedicated to the memory of my father, a Nova Scotia farmer, who gave me his name and raised me close to the land.

View from Horton Bluff, across Minas Basin toward Cape Blomidon, the northeastern tip of North Mountain enclosing the north side of the Annapolis Valley. Minas Basin is separated from the main body of the Bay of Fundy by Cape Split and this prominent headland. Large tides ebb and flow through the Minas Channel, just beyond the “nose” of Blomidon. This is a 2007 summer evening. Click size for enlargement
