I think we’ve pretty much reached a decision on which book to cover in our upcoming book club discussion.  While it wasn’t quite a unanimous decision, it was pretty close.

We’ll use Colin Fletcher’s The Man Who Walked Through Time this time round.  I’ve got my copy in hand, and it looks like it is going to be a very fun read — one that will lend itself to very good discussion.  It is a travel memoir, a spiritual journey, and a collection of nature writing.  It was

categorized in a different section at each of 3 bookstores where I tried to buy it.  That may not be good for sales of the book, but I think it was a great way to get me even more interested in it.  It seems to be a text that has a lot to offer to a wide variety of readers.  Sounds like perfect book club material.

One drawback, for me, was that the book was not very easy to find.  If you are a reader who often orders from Amazon, I’ve placed the links here.  My local Borders did not have the book in stock, nor did the used bookstore (though I suspect some buyers might have some luck at used bookstores).  There was one copy at Barnes & Noble — the copy I bought.

I thought, with the possible difficulty involved in finding the book, that we might should wait a little while and start in mid-February.  I’m hoping this would give us all time to get the book and read it, but not allow so much time to pass that we forget what we’ve read. Does this sound OK to everyone?  At this point, I am aiming for mid-Feb, but I will hear from all of you before deciding.

Finally, I have changed the font on this post, which should help to fix the comment problem some were having.  I have also included an “email me” button.  That won’t stay up forever, but it is there for now, just in case anyone has trouble posting comments.
