Two-Week Work Crews

These two crews of hard-working young adults and adults will work concurrently side-by-side with Guatemalan nationals on two major projects fulfilling some of the greatest needs of Hogar Miguel, as identified by its founder and manager, Karen.  The two major projects of this crew will be:  1)  Build a one-story Transitional Home to house 8-10 older boys at the facility.  2) Build a rain-water reclamation system to collect the rainwater from the many rooftops.  This water can be put to use for cooking, cleaning, gardening and other uses.  Since Hogar Miguel is located on a mountain, electricity to pump water into this facility currently represents the greatest monthly expense to the home.  Other work projects are listed here as well.  Potential mission projects at each site, and mission supplies may change as needed.  Some supplies will be collected by team members prior to the trip while others will be provided by other sources.  Major funding for the two main projects will collected by 3rd party sources, and advance planning teams will assure all supplies will delivered prior to start of construction.  There will be two crews of approximately 15 members each, but work crew members will be shared between crews based on project staff requirements.  These teams will be lead by Frank Smith, retired design engineer from General Motors in Detroit, MI, and George Crist, founder of PC Parts computer parts and service company in Harrisburg, PA.  Both men have served as general contractors for 2-3 buildings each, and have lead many teams of people in their respective industries.  Mr. Smith is the father of Shawn Smith, and Mr. Crist is the father-in-law of Jennifer Crist.
