Reckoning
Reckoning
In the month of March and part of April, we had Christine Wood and Lynne Farrow here. It was great to have our entire core here. We packed in quite a bit while they were here. We taught 2 workshops at the Hub on Everyday Leadership and Art as Metaphor. We met with countless people and developed some great relationships with others who are as passionate about change as we are. We developed a more refined strategy for our art intervention that we have now pushed back to the Spring of 2010. We are expanding our art classes and developing a character academy called C2 Academy - Creativity with Character.
We are starting a prototype this summer, offering the classes to english speaking youth. This program is called Elevate. We have recruited about 10 teachers and will be training them at the end of June. We will use this as a living lab in order to develop workshops for the youth in Bos en Lommer for the fall. We are also meeting with schools and after school programs in the Bos en Lommer area of Amsterdam to promote this idea and find partners. Our goal is to develop a method that can work in any city in any language.
Concurrently we are working in Oxnard in the very beginning stages in seeing what kind of project Reckoning could do there. We have also received our first grant from Community Pres. Church in Ventura!! We are always looking for others to join our vision. You can visit
Nation to Nation and donate online to Reckoning. http://www.ntni.org. We are currently looking at a budget of $150,000 needed to keep things going and get these projects off the ground.
Our website is still a work in progress but we are glad to have a presence. You can also join us online on reckoning.ning.com. We have our social community which describes our summer workshop program, Elevate. you can see our activity and contribute to what is happening over here.
