    Born in 1951 as the eldest son of Late P. Prabhakaran and Late P. Saraswathi, I was brought up at Mithra Villa, Mayyanad. I did my schooling in LMS LPS and Mayyanad High school. I graduated from Sri Narayana college, Quilon in 1970 and underwent my medical training at Medical College, Trivandrum. I did all my post graduate studies, except diploma in psychological medicine (DPM), from Medical college, Trivandrum, which is my Alma matter.


      During the early part of my professional life, I worked as Asst. Surgeon in Kerala Health Service. My career in Neurology started as a tutor in 1982 at Medical College, Trivandrum. As a full time neurologist, I have been practicing from 1989. As per survey conducted by Delhi Doordarshan, at the time of my retirement in 2006 as Principal, Medical College, I have examined and treated over 15 lakh patients. I still continue my services as a full time practicing neurologist and social educator in all humane spectrum. Presently, I am a senior consultant in Neurology with special interest in Headache, Epilepsy and Psycho-Somatic diseases.















 



      I am married to Dr. Salma Ramakrishnan, an Ophthalmologist in Kerala Health service. My only son, Dr. Nakul Shaji and daughter-in-law, Divya Nair, are both engineers in Minneapolis , USA. I am a proud grandfather of Rhea, who is currently residing in USA.


    As an author, I have published six books under the publication of Shaji Prabha and edited three others. I am now editor in chief of Arthek fortnightly journal and a monthly publication named Malayaladesham. I am heading various social organizations including Sri Narayana Trust as Trustee. My field of interests are public speaking, and free medical aid when and as required, in all parts of Kerala, including monthly free medical service in Mayyanad at Sarasi Prabha Medical advice center.
