Trip to San Antonio
We decided yesterday, last minute, to tag along with Seth to San Antonio where he had an interview at 7 PM. Rather than he drive there 4 hours, interview and then drive back late the same night, we found an awesome deal at a Hilton hotel for $69, and we stayed the night. We considered this a little practice run for our road trip this Christmas to California. We got there in time to check into our hotel, call and have a pizza delivered and then Seth took off to his interview. I was a little concerned about the kids being bored in the hotel with me, but that place turned into a great little playground for them. I don’t know if they were hyped up on soda and pizza, or if they were just ecstatic to be in a new place, but we had a ton of fun while waiting for Seth to get back. The above picture gives you a basic idea of how silly these kids were. I’ve never laughed so hard with my own children when they were actually trying to be funny. Good times!

I Love OCTOBER!!
It’s 70 degrees outsside, the kids are playing on the swing set, windows open to let in the breeze, and I’m baking....life is good! South Texas in one of those places that you might HATE in the summer, when it’s flippin’ hot and freakin’ humid, but come October until about March, this place rocks! I know a few of you out there would beg to differ, but I hate snow, so mild and cool in the winter is definitely my preference.
BY THE WAY, I am well aware that the last time I posted anything was about 3 months ago, and to be honest with you, I really haven’t missed blogging, but I have an excuse!! I am currently 17 weeks pregnant, and just getting over being crazy sick. In fact, as I sit here, I am feeling a little queezy, but nothing like I was feeling a couple of weeks ago. My big plan was to wait to announce anything until we knew what the sex of the baby is, but so many people know already, I might as well just let the rest of the world know.

Hurricane Dolly!
Some of you may be wondering, others of you may be totally oblivious, but we were indeed pounded this week by a hurricane. It’s kind of funny in the sense that it has been YEARS since our area was directly hit by a hurricane, so most people really had forgotten what kind of damage they can really do, but this “little” hurricane definitely was a wake up call to a lot of people in this area.
I had hosted playgroup on Tuesday and was talking to some of the moms about their preparations for the storm. Most of them really didn’t seem too concerned since Dolly wasn’t expected to be anything above a category 1. Well, Dolly ended up being a category 2 at her strongest, and by the time she got to McAllen (which is about an hour inland) she was still packing the strength of a Hurricane (most had predicted that she would die down to a Tropical Storm by that point). Anyway, yesterday we attended a birthday party for one of the playgroup kids, so we all got a chance to discuss the

Here are some recent video of the kids...
We’ve all been busy these last couple of months. Ian ended his pre-school year, and so far we don’t plan to take him back next year. Pre-school is pretty expensive around here so I thought I would try my hand at “home schooling” him through his final year of pre-school before he goes into Kindergarten. Katie is busy growing up. We can’t believe what a sweet, cute, funny and energetic little girl she has turned out to be. She still has her occasional sassy side come out, but all of the sudden she is SO SWEET!!! Seth and I are absolutely loving the stages the kids are in right now. We get a kick out of the funny things they say and do. An example is the other day, after Seth had finished mowing the lawn, Ian was pretending that the grass clippings on the ground were snow. He and Katie watch a new show that teaches them words in Chinese, and he was throwing the grass in the air and saying the Chinese word for snow which is (I don’t know spelling) SHEA’ (pronounced she-eh)

Sorry....another post about me...
I know it’s getting old to keep hearing stuff about me, but I promise there are some awesome posts coming soon with video footage of the kids ( I just need my husband, who is often too busy, to help me put it up). Anyway, I’ve been really blessed lately with the launch of my Fitness group, and we recently made the local news. It’s a VERY short clip, but it was good publicity nonetheless. A friend from church, Jasmine Rico Garcia, has a news segment about things going on in the area. basically she reports “good” news, because I guess there’s not enough of it these days. Anyway, if you are interested, here is a link to view it. We are the very last group in the segment. http://www.kveo.com/news/entertainment/19423624.html

Beach to Bay Marathon Relay
Seth stayed home with the kids while I went up to Corpus Christi to run. It was a fun, but very short, all girl weekend. We had a blast!! 1,705 teams of 6 competing in a relay marathon race. Our team came in 237th overall and 14th in the all-women team category (out of 180 all-women teams). Our overall time for the marathon was about 3 hrs and 39 mins. It was so much fun and I can’t wait to do it again next year!!
