Alright, let me just say that I did place 7th in my age division (there were 54 of us) and 331 out of 4,000 total entries (so I really should be happy, but I’M NOT). I told Seth after the race that if I had never run in a race before, this would have been the last one, fortunately, I know this one was a terrible fluke. I will take with me some major learning experience about adequately hydrating one’s self before venturing to run in a 10K, at 1 in the afternoon in 80-some-odd degree weather. I nearly passed out by the end, but I managed to finish (without ever stopping) 2 and 1/2 minutes improved from my last 10K. The only difference is that every muscle in my body ached like I had never before experienced. I can only imagine this is what it would feel like to complete a marathon, only the distance I covered was 20 miles less.
Alright, enough whining...there will be other races to run, and always room to learn and grow and most importantly to IMPROVE. The picture above is me with two of my best friends, Belin and Cathy. I am happy to have such good friends that cheer me on and encourage me to do my best. The three of us, along with three others, will be running in a relay marathon in May; and so our training continues.
I must also give a “shout out” to my dear, loving, wonderful husband (and KIDS) that have been there (and are still there) to cheer me on and encourage me. I was definitely motivated in seeing their faces in the crowd as I ran passed them. Thank you, thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
