Nope, the Sacrament of Confirmation, which is the last Sacrament of Initiation, marks the beginning of a great adventure.  The Church does its best to equip you for a life of faithful living, and through the incredible gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, you will be ready to face the world and the challenges that today’s teens face.

Preparation for Confirmation at St. John is condensed, meaning that we only have about four months of classes, meeting each week on either Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday. 

Each class is 70 minutes long.  The Archdiocese of Baltimore also requires you to do a service project (four hours), go on a retreat (held at St. John), and write a letter to the Bishop confirming you. 

St. John also asks that you complete several additional requirements, and more info about these will be discussed at the parent meetings and in class.  When it’s all said and done, you need to complete all the requirements outlined in the Preparation Handbook.

At St. John, we want our Confirmation Program to be the beginning of something, not the end.  The priests, staff, catechists, assistants and teen leaders work really hard at making this an incredible and life-changing experience.  We’re asking every teen to give it a chance!

The Lord is waiting to offer you freedom.  Freedom from sin, from suffering, from sadness and rejection.  As you prepare to accept this freedom, this “Spirit of Freedom”, we encourage you to prepare your heart.  Seek Christ with everything you have.  His yoke is easy and His burden light (Matthew 11:28-30).  Seek to know Christ, and know that He loves you unconditionally.  There is a place for you in His Church and in His heart.
