There’s a lot of things you do on your radio station.  If they’re worth doing at all they’re worth promoting.  You’d be surprised by the amount of people who want to know about something as totally mundane as the weather!  Imagine the mileage you can get by promoting brand new music, prizes you’re giving away or an interview that’s just around the corner.

Promote, Promote, Promote!

Promote anything!

I once heard a jock promote that he had a commercial break just 10 minutes away and in the commercial break Tom Shane would be illuminating some schmuck on what he’d like to see around his girlfriend’s neck!

Don’t tell listeners stuff, show them!

Someone is hearing what you’re saying for the first time.
The programmers job is to build cume, the Air Personalities job is to build quarter hours.
Take better care of the listeners than anyone else in town.
Know what you want to communicate before you open the mic.
50% of what you say can be redlined.
Give something from your point of view.
