These pretty doodads, popular in the 50s for wispy curtain purposes, (though I’ve never figured out how they were used — to hold the curtains up? To tie them back? Either or?) make make rotten thumb tacks, because they obscure a big portion of whatever it is you want to pin up. But they’re extremely cute, so that’s how we use them.
