Ever since we found this booklet at a flea market (next to a big pile of spark plugs), the Cordoba has been the only car for us. We loved the booklet’s warm golden color scheme, like a sultry Sangria-drenched evening in Spain. Flown forever are our teen era dreams of GTO muscle. We’re all older now, and we want smooth.
We have big plans for restoring the slightly rusted, engine-free hulk of the 1976 Cordoba Jane’s grease monkey older brother has parked in our junkyard. And yes, it features the magnificent option of rich Corinthian leather bucket seats, as shown below.
By now, everyone knows that the “Corinthian” descriptive was made up by copywriters to give RIcardo Montalban more scope for rolling his Rs in those famed Cordoba television commercials.
Any kind of leather is better than vinyl! When we get our dream ride spiffed up, soon after our ship comes in, we’ll glide through the streets in top style, eight-track deck marinating our earlobes in the well-oiled beat of Sergio Mendes.
The Cordoba is the only car on the planet which offered Corinthian leather as a magnificent option.
