lucky find gazette N N

These were found in a local thrift store renowned for its sewing notions and fabrics. Gold lamé doesn’t scan well, but these fabrics are flashy, and so entirely suitable for a Hostess Skirt: one of those full, long, stiff things women wore in the 70s, with chiffon bishop-sleeved blouses, and their hair pulled back, but with two corkscrew curls drifting down to frame the face.

Here at the office, we’re going to sew up the skirts (there’s enough fabric for all of us!), then have a big soirée to show them off. We’ve all decided that the canapé to serve while wearing something so elegant is rumaki. (That’s the word of the day you all have to look up, if you don’t already know it.) And the drink? Whiskey sours, of course.
