There’s always a large stock of sofa sized oils (anything two feet by three feet or larger) ready to go at your local thrift store, usually for under $10. We here at Lucky Find Salvage Company prefer seascapes, since the Midwest is land-locked and surf-free. We hang these in the conference room, and when meetings get too stressful, we take a “time out,” pop in a New Age “Sounds of the Sea” NatureNoises CD, and just gaze at the paintings for a while till the soothing waves wash away all tension in the room.
Sean K. Sullivan, our New York CIty correspondent, sent in a photo of the painting below, to which he added, for a wonderfully ominous feel, an oil tanker heading towards the rocks. This one would not work for “time out.”
