It’s official...I’m a STUD!

First, I want to apologize for not blogging for the last few months.  It’s really not my fault...it’s Dads.  There never seems to be any opportunity to jump on the computer when he’s not looking.  But I’m back.  And not only am I back, but I’m back as a ‘stud’.

I didn’t really know what that meant until I suddenly had full access to our house.  When I would sneak up on the couch (picture above)...Dad didn’t say “Woody, get down”.  Instead, he just ignored it.  I also got free rein of Dad’s bed (picture above)!  Claiming the right side pillow as mine!  I even learned to lift my leg when I pee (other picture above) AND I can now sniff when we go for walks.  And I still get to go up to GDA, but instead of playing with the pups, being a stud is a whole new experience!

The first time Dad took me up to GDA to provide my services (as he calls it) he was concerned that perhaps things would not work out...after all, I never humped a thing in my life.  So, when Dad dropped me off, he explained to Meri (the lady in charge of the breeding department) that he wasn’t sure how this would work out...that I had never humped a thing...and that perhaps they may need to show me a few magazines to get the process started.  Meri laughed and told Dad that she didn’t think it would be a problem.  She was right!  You would have thought I was born specifically for this very difficult task :).

In the short time that I’ve been given my new title and responsibilities I’ve been up to GDA twice to meet two very cute female pups in heat.  They won’t tell Dad anything about the dogs or if I actually become a dad myself, but as long as I get to keep going up to GDA, I’m not complaining!

As Dad says, it’s a win-win situation.  I am still a part of Guide Dogs of America - with a new responsibility - and I get to stay with Dad.

PS:  Drea (my good friend) is also a part of the breeding program.  Dad and Aunt Patti (Drea’s mom) hope to be grandparents one day.
