This morning Dad and I went to Fryman Canyon for a quick hike. It’s a canyon located about a mile or two from home. The first part of the hike is all up hill and while I used to drag behind a bit, I’m now keeping up with Dad. It’s a nice hike and I get to see a lot of other dogs and practice my ‘leave it.’
Speaking of leave it...I started my obedience classes last week and last night was our second class. Last night we practiced our ‘downs’, ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and ‘watch’. Dad says I’m doing pretty good and that he’s noticed that I’ve matured (whatever that means) over the last month or so. However, I still have my puppy moments...when I do what Uncle Glyn referred to as the “Labrador Shuffle”...that’s when I have so much energy I simply can’t control it and my hind legs find it hard to not be in front of my front legs as I do crazy laps around the house.
One other thing, today on the hike Dad pointed out what he called our “shadows”. They seemed to follow us for most of the hike. At first they were in front of us, then beside us and then they disappeared. I figured they just couldn’t keep up with our pace and got tired out.
