ABOUT ME
I am an earth scientist working in Canada on topics related to paleoclimatology, climate dynamics, water resources, and renewable energy.
I use tree rings to describe environmental change in the Canadian Prairie provinces during the last several hundred years. This work includes the development of annually-resolved proxy records that describe the behavior of the climate and hydrological system beyond the limited perspective offered by instrumental measurements.
My second research theme investigates hydrological variability in Canada and North America, and explores the nature and causes of changes at timescales ranging from days to several centuries.
My main motivation for this research stems from the potential use of climate information to improve forecasts of drought and water availability for reservoir operations and long-term planning.
