Scott & Lindsay

Through Mission to the World, we are partnered with Abbey Church in Dublin to participate in growing an arts ministry that national pastor, Alan Boal, developed.

That partnership began as an 11 month internship and has become a long term missionary position with Abbey Presbyterian Church in Dublin.  Sent by the Presbyterian Church in America, we are now in the U.S. where we must raise support to return to Dublin and continue the work of the Arts Ministry.

The Arts Ministry is a word and deed ministry focused on promoting God's call on Christians already engaged in the Arts, promoting the Arts within the Church, Dublin, Ireland and worldwide as an essential gift to it from God for others, and promoting a distinctly Christian contribution to the interests, issues and attitudes that prevail in society through the Arts.  In essence, the Arts Ministry is the avenue through which we and Abbey Church are participating in both evangelism and church renewal.

Upon returning to Dublin, our involvement with the ministry at Abbey Presbyterian Church will resume under our national pastor, Alan Boal and our MTW team leader,  Andy Pickens.

Within that team, we will exercise and develop

our own photographic gifts as resident artists
while providing appropriate courses in photography (and other related disciplines) in accordance with the Arts Ministry development program.  We will also be assisting Alan in the delivery of an evangelistic Arts Ministry program; especially with regard to the annual Arts Festival.

Of course communication within a church body is essential to its unity, and so we will be assisting Abbey Church’s Communications Committee.  Scott will oversee Abbey’s website and train Abbey members in the same.  We will both assist with regard to promotional materials, magazines, newsletters, C.Ds, D.V.Ds, course materials and multimedia products and assisting with general church administration duties as required.

Abbey will rely on Mission to the World Interns to complete summer projects and other ministries within the Church for years to come.  Because of this, it is imperative that our team is prepared for Interns to join us each year and that we can provide a beneficial orientation and general oversight of visiting Interns and ministry teams.  This will also be a part of our ministry in Dublin.

Hospitality will also remain a huge part of our ministry.

We will host and Scott will lead a small group Bible Study in accordance with Abbey’s discipleship development program and exercise a ministry of friendship evangelism.  The multicultural nature of Dublin and thus of these friendships will allow Lindsay to teach English as a foreign language.
