downtown changing rapidly

Back Room wines is moving across from The Bounty Hunter. The Wine Merchant has moved next to Taylor’s Refresher and the Fatted Calf at the Oxbow. There is buzz about a new operator moving into the Cuvee space, There is a a lot happening along the Napa River as  physical landscape becomes prettier and the retail environment evolves in an exciting direction It is only going to get better when the Westin opens in mid-September with the 180 rooms and Ken Frank’s great food.
But west of Main Street it is getting quieter. on 1st Street. The bookstore is closing. No one is jumping to fill the N V space. The empty storefronts can’t be good for anyone.
I ate at new Pizza Azzuro across from Vintner’s Collective. The tasty meal that I had was served quickly, but the space is loud, the ambient noise echos in the space and fills it with a tinny harshness. Not unlike eating at an airport. They will have to do something about that.
(Quite possibly this is the least attractive picture I have posted. It’s just a quick shot from the iphone to remind me to blog about Main Street and 1st Street but it’s all I have. )
