Fiddles and Beer: The Return!                                               A wee real ale and music festival                                              14th June, The Accies Club, Glasgow

Once more the Accies Club in Anniesland is to host a Fiddles and Beer Festival -bringing the Highland Village Hall to the city.  Following the great success of the first Fiddles and Beer Festival in January this year, which drew a crowd of over 200 people, including a certain Paulo Nutini, a similar musical line up of Celtic bands is to be repeated.

Headline act, BRAMAX from Skye, who feature some of the Peatbog Faeries, along with Farquar MacDonald on fiddle, followed by Iain Morrison from Lewis, lead singer of Crash My Model car, playing tunes from his albums Skimming Stones Sinking Boats, Empty Beer Bottles and Peat Fire Smoke, as well as Scott MacDonald co-organiser of the event, the night will have the coolest of urban dwellers spinning on their feet.

Glasgow born musician and former resident of the highlands, Scott MacDonald missed the village hall gig, previously a staple part of his social life, when he returned to city life.  Noting that there was no real equivalent of these gigs in Glasgow, MacDonald has teamed up with Alan Hendry of Sounds in the Suburbs, who runs family friendly gigs in the West End of Glasgow.

Says MacDonald, “These concerts are just great fun - there’s always an electric atmosphere with people of all ages getting together to enjoy music and dancing, and the bands interact and improvise on stage.”

Continues MacDonald, “Our first ever gig in January was a great night and we’ve decided to put on another night, it’s the type of festival night that we could put together on a regular basis.  And it’s certainly an idea that has resonance within the Celtic music community. The breweries have been keen to get involved as it gives them a chance to reach a wider audience.”

With high octane celtic, acoustic and rocking beats it will be another night to remember - a great chance to enjoy the best of Scottish music washed down with beer from the likes of the Skye Brewery, the Kelburne Brewery and many others.  A unique event, in a great setting.
