Justin, Brian and Wesley practice in the Vocal Track

Friday morning bright and early at 7:30, the tech team began rehearsal for the final program, which began at 9:30 for the parents.

The Orchestra provided pre-show music playing arrangements of “I sing the Mighty Power of God,” “Fairest Lord Jesus,” “Holy, Holy, Holy” and “God of Wonders.”

The program began by dedicating YPAC 2006 to the memory of Jay Grove who was a large part of the First, Laurel, youth group. Jay was passionate about God and music.

A video was shown that included sights, sounds and testimonies from throughout the week (click here).

The praise band “After Hours” group played “Living For You.” The Gazebo Band played their arrangement of “This Little Light of Mine.”

Michael Morgan played his guitar and sang new words to Joel Goddard’s song, “I Don’t Know Where I’m Going.”

“I Don’t Know Where I’m Going” lyrics ala YPAC
I don’t know where I’m gonna be tomorrow
But I know where I’ve been
I’ve been at YPAC
And I’m sad now
Cause it’s the end

Cause at home I was a lazy bum,
Practiced some, summer slacking,
Time wasting, shy person, soul searching,
Thought my pride was real exciting,
Performance fearing, God ignoring,
Hide the light that was within.

But at YPAC I’m a gift sharing,
Tech preparing,
Fly swatting, chair surfing, friend hugging,
White-faced clown,
Thought that Trent could break it down,
Life loving, Father seeking,
Shine to all my friends.

Students, staff and faculty voted on their favorites of the Gift Giver Showcase presentations. “Out of Darkness,” a metal band from First Church, Laurel, played and sang; Paige Shircliff performed a human video to “Sunday’s On Its Way;” and the Yoo sisters played a string trio, accompanied by Brittany Baker.

Following the Gift Giver Presentations, Joel Goddard led in worship with “I Don’t Know Where I’m Going,” “Cause I Know that You’re Alive, ”Because He Lives and Oh How Marvelous,” and “I think About You Lord.”

Trent Kirkland led the Commissioning Service by reading from Acts 13 where Barnabus and Saul were set apart for service. Trent told the campers, “The gifts you possess are from your Creator to shine light in a dark culture. God saved you for a purpose.”

Then Trent asked the campers to make a commitment to take on darkness and let their light shine on stage, in school, at church, wherever they do. He asked those who wanted to commit to being lightbearers to kneel in the front for prayer and dedication.

The Vocal Track concluded the program and families and campers had lunch together.
