REVIEWS OF THE DVD:

“THEATRE IN HIV/AIDS EDUCATION”

PROFESSIONAL Users response

Dear Peter,

I have found the DVD you sent me explaining Forum Theatre theory and

techniques to be very useful.

As you know, I teach a course on African

Performance and include work by South African performers that draws on Forum Theatre as well as their own performative traditions.  I touch on Forum

Theatre but until now did not have extensive examples of the theory in

operation until I received your DVD. I will use the DVD in class.

I also appreciate the discussions provided by your Danish scholars and

practitioners.  I found their explanations superior to that  which I was

providing my students.

Students are always keen to find something they can DO to help solve global

problems such as problems related to HIV/AIDS.  Among other things, we

encourage them to engage in overseas volunteering.

Your DVD helps me because it shows a concrete action that theatre/communication students could undertake.

In fact, if you have need of a good volunteer or two for your work in

Mozambique or elsewhere, kindly let me know.

We use the Dvd as part of the programming we display on two television screens in our lobbies. The programs shown include educational themes as well as artistic and entertaining content. Your Dvd has been especially well received by our people and has prompted positive comments. Not all of our programming prompts such comments. Thanks so much for what you're doing! The results reach here to South Florida to enrich the lives of those we serve.

As  I mentioned in the Dvd request, we are an AIDS service organiZation in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. We have two offices which service about 3000 people in our area who have HIV and Aids.

Hello Peter,

Thanks for the DVD on Theatre for Social Change. It is very well done.

Perhaps you would consider allowing us to stream your DVD on our university’s web server.  The product would then be linked to my AIDS Arts webpage.  I am interested in having my students access these for an excellent account of Boalian techniques.

Cheers and thanks for the great teaching aid.

Dear Sir,

Greetings from MANT.

We have used the DVD in our last workshop which was held at a remote village of the district of Purulia popularly known for its notorious poverty. Our trainers used that DVD as reference. However, language is a problem. Most of our rural people could not understand and speak english. But the contents and the modes are very useful for us as well as for the trainers.

Again we are going to use the DVD during a joint training programme meant for German and Indian Students during February 2007.

Finally a new production, which is greatly influenced by your creations, is under preparation.

With kindest regards,

Yours ever,

Nirmalya Mukhopadhyay
