Previous Employment
Prior to joining Apple in 2001, I was a Design Director at Cooper (formerly Cooper Interaction Design), a design and business consulting company in San Francisco. While at Cooper, I was responsible for developing design and business solutions for handheld devices, new multimedia products, software application user-interfaces and several identity systems for clients such as AT&T, HP and Informatica.
Before I permanently relocated to the US, I worked on design projects for European companies and institutions, such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra [1996] and the European Commission [1996].
Education
I hold a Communication Design degree with honors from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California [1996].
My personal design mentor has been no other than the late graphic design icon Paul Rand: read about my personal encounter with him.
Prior to attending Art Center, I studied classical voice under Felicia Weathers in Munich.
What I do
As a designer I am passionate about simplicity and about humanizing technology by crafting elegant, easy-to-use products that make a difference in people’s lives
Apple, Inc.
I have been working for Apple for more than nine years.
Currently I work on new things that I cannot talk about (yet).
Most recently I was acting as design director for Apple’s online service mobileme—previously known as .Mac ( “Dot” Mac)—where I managed a dedicated design team conceptualizing, designing and developing innovative and compelling user experiences for the Web, desktop and the iPhone.
When I joined Apple almost a decade ago, I was one of the founding members of Apple’s application’s design group.
Under my design direction Apple conceived and shipped more than dozen different applications and application content (templates, themes and sample projects) including .iLife / .Mac Web Gallery, award-winning FinalCut Studio, Aperture, Logic Studio and Shake, to name a few.
I hold several pending and awarded patents for Apple’s user interface design methods, such as United States Patent 7184056 and European Patent EP1805584. Most recent patent filings include several for various consumer products and the iPhone.
About Apple, Inc.
Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital media revolution with its iPod portable music and video players and iTunes online store, and has entered the mobile phone market this year with its revolutionary iPhone.
