Reaching Youth with the Gospel

Hello Team!!

I trust that everyone is doing well. Are the leaves starting to change color yet? Well it’s hot and sunny here as usual!! We do get torrential downpours quite frequently, but it’s okay because we have monster-size umbrellas :)

Well I just wanted to give you a brief update with what is going on here in El Salvador with the ministry.

Our young adults’ ministry, called “La Red” has started full-force at the university, La Evangelica. The cool thing about the word, “red,” is that in Spanish, it means “net,” “network,” or “web.” This ministry is a net in that catches people for Jesus. It is a network, because it’s a network of people. It is also a web with the idea that we are connected. Our vision is to start discipleship groups on every major college campus in San Salvador, with the end goal of seeing youth committed and serving in our local church, Iglesia Gran Comision (IGC). La Evangelica has given Jorge and I the opportunity to lead these discipleship groups on campus. What a blessing and what a challenge!! We are trusting God each step of the way. Together with a core support group from IGC and a group of committed Christian university students, we are believing that God will change the lives of the students.

Last week, a musician, named Thomas Dickerson from Atlanta, Georgia, came to do a series of evangelistic concerts. Some 80 students accepted Christ! This is wonderful news!! Let the work begin with “La Red”!!! Jorge and I are in charge (as volunteers) of Building 4 on campus, which includes Engineering, Education, English, Law, and Psychology Departments. I am starting a weekly discipleship group next Monday with the women who accepted Christ. Equally so, on Monday, Jorge is staring a discipleship group with the guys who accepted Christ. We are using the same discipleship system in the university that we use in our local church, IGC. GCLA approved La Evangelica’s use of the system, so not only is Building 4 using this system, but the whole campus! What a blessing!!

(The picture above is a shot of when Thomas Dickerson gave the invitation to accept Christ. Nine students accepted Christ as this concert.)

On another note, I’m in the midst of promoting mission projects for 2010. If you are interested in leading or being part of a team, please let me know. You can see our 3 projects that we are promoting on the following website: http://sansalvadorchurch.com/ under “Mission Trips.” These projects are Campus Outreach, Soccer and Social Project, and Community Outreach.

Prayer Requests:
1.	University students to continue in discipleship
2.	Further development for La Red on La Evangelica campus
3.	Churches to send Mission Groups for 2010
4.	Approval of the Jorge’s Visa before Dec. 15

Thank you for your continued love, support, and prayers.
Sarah
