HRT Brings Down the House
HRT Brings Down the House
Imagine you take a break from parenting to crank out some rock tunes with your girlfriends. At night, you perform live at small club venues, gathering a following of devoted fans who idolize your music. You’re even recording a CD, shopping around for a record label, and have filmed a reality TV show. Seem unbelievable?
Five women in the rock jam band HRT, otherwise known as Hormone Replacement Therapy, are living this spectacular dream. Four of the band members are mothers -- between them they have eight kids, from ages 8 to 13. All of the band’s music, pure rock laced with attitude, is original.
To go inside the world of HRT, check out today’s podcast featuring an interview with the band. The women talk about their upcoming live performance at the Hard Rock Cafe on Aug. 9 in Boston to support Advocates for Autism of Massachusetts and Toward Independent Living and Learning (TILL), Inc., two fabulous charities.
They also chat about what it’s like to live the life of a rock star, their upcoming CD, and the U.S. distribution status of their Canadian reality TV show that is appropriately titled, “Rocker Moms.” The podcast ends with HRT’s latest single, Sad Situation.
For a more in-depth look at HRT, you can read my cover story in Parents and Kids’ May 2008 issue, which profiles the band along side two other amazing moms in an article called, “The Secret Lives of Moms.” Or, you can go to the band’s My Space page, http://www.myspace.com/hrtrocks for tons of information, photos, downloads and more.
In the meantime, live your dreams!
