Space Museum

The fifth grade Unit of Inquiry in December and January was Earth, Space, and the Universe. Much of the work the kids did was independent, group research toward an exhibit that they prepared, as part of a Space Museum to which other grades, and eventually parents, were invited. We all agreed that it was great! Sammie worked with friends from Australia, Korea, and Malaysia to tell us the story of space exploration. The highlight was a video they made of themselves performing a skit about the origins of the US - Soviet space race. (Interesting tidbit: no one in the group wanted to play the American character.) In the top right, you can see Sammie, “reporter from Cuba,” introducing us to herself and the rest of the video. And we worked well with her friend Aude’s mom on the quiz  of interesting space facts that came at the end!
