Yoshi’s Visit to Beijing

As you may all remember, we visited Debbie’s college roommate, Yoshi, in Tokyo in the Fall.  We had hoped we could see her and her family one more time before we left this side of the world and luckily they were able to fit in a short visit to Beijing.  Steve and I had a chance to see the Great Wall one more time before we left.  We also explored a new place, Dajue Temple,  the “Magic Spring Temple” outside of Beijing with a friend of Kai’s, whose mother and sister have been living in Beijing while he and his father lived in Tokyo last year.  The temple was built during the Liao dynasty (907-1125AD). There is a spring that flows through the temple’s lovely tea garden, which is tiered along a mountainside.  Steve and Rachel particularly enjoyed dropping a small twig at the top of the hill and watching it float around the garden.  The temple has a terrific restaurant, which has the feeling of being inside an old Chinese pub from the set of a Bruce Lee movie.   It was a short, but lovely visit--not to mention--a whole lot of good Beijing eating!
