Postcard Fiction
Theme: Water
2007 Contest Winner: Deena L. Trouten
Congratulations to the winning author for her entry “The Rise and Progress of Sin”.
Deena lives in southwestern Idaho with her husband and three children. Her short fiction has appeared in 'The Green Tricycle,' 'Long Story Short,' and 'flashquake' magazine. When not daydreaming of floral davenports Deena enjoys working as a part-time library clerk which affords her the opportunity to speculate on rising waters, government gondolas and other potential stories. She is currently pursuing a degree in English at Boise State University.
This year, the judging panel was once again delighted and humbled to receive submissions from many countries, making the writing community feel at once widespread and intimate. Deena’s piece was chosen as this year’s winner for its unusual, evocative, thoughtful, humourous, and ironic take on our theme. We hope you enjoy our winning entry.
We would also like to honour the following writers for their submissions:
Paddy Chitty – Hamilton, ON “My Turn”
Sheila Crosby “Pink Chalk”
Carol Driscoll – Boulder, Colorado “Holy Water”
Kerri K. Hakoda – Seattle, Washington “Koroshi (A Murder)”
